Workflow processes often assign tasks to users. When we enlist a user to provide input, we are asking her to take an action there. The action could be “provide input”. Once this action is completed the outcome of that action in the context of the process is perhaps to get that input reviewed by someone.
How do I interact with a workflow process instance once it is running? K2 provides an API which allows programmatic access to workflow instances that are in motion.
Initiating a workflow process is a key step in process applications. If you think of a workflow providing a case management solution, A workflow instance may manage a single case or set of cases. A workflow process could correspond 1 to 1 with a Case’s lifecycle OR just a single request related to a case. Other combinations of these are possible as well.
